enespa and the Finnish start-up PlastEco Ltd. intertwine their efforts in a strategic partnership. It began with the delivery of a chemical recycling plant for plastic waste.
Founded in 2022, the Finnish start-up PlastEco Ltd. always utilises cutting-edge industry technology to recycle plastic waste through chemical recycling. PlastEco continues working towards its vision of becoming a leading plastics recycling company in Finland and the neighbouring regions by 2030.
Unlike competitors that rely on high-capacity centralised systems, PlastEco provides localised solutions. These solutions allow for flexible scaling and require only a moderate initial investment, making them ideal for sites with medium volumes of plastic waste or limited pre-treatment capabilities.
The first enespa plant in Finland has a capacity of 5 tonnes per day. In the video, the plant is still at the production facility in Tangstedt, Germany.

PlastEco utilises our pyrolysis technology and works in close collaboration with local stakeholders to efficiently process plastic waste and return it to the cycle. It operates as an extensive network and prides itself on its in-depth knowledge of the local market. PlastEco cost-effectively sources feedstock from surrounding communities, thereby minimising operating costs, shortening transport routes and supporting resource-efficient logistics.
At the heart of the project is the strategic partnership between enespa technologies ag in Appenzell, Switzerland, and PlastEco Ltd. in Lahti, Finland. enespa ag has acquired a 40% stake in the subsidiary. PlastEco has increased its capital stock accordingly. Further, enespa group has appointed two representatives to join the board of directors at PlastEco Ltd. Joachim Vogt, the COO of enespa group, and Ben Richters, the CTO, will be actively involved in PlastEco and foster close and targeted collaboration between the two companies.
The partnership with PlastEco provides us with access to the Finnish market. Plans for the future include the annual delivery of additional plants and thus the ongoing expansion of existing capacities along with a corresponding increase in turnover.
