Pioneering Collaboration to Launch Chemical Recycling Facility in Winnie, Texas
Winnie, Texas – enespa technologies us llc, a subsidiary of enespa ag (Switzerland), and Ecocyclic are proud to announce a pivotal partnership to redefine the future of plastic waste recycling in the largest consumer market wordwide: the USA. This collaboration aims to tackle one of the most pressing environmental challenges - reducing landfill waste - by utilizing cutting-edge chemical recycling technology to recycle polyolefin-based post-consumer plastics into ISCC PLUS certified sustainable feedstocks for chemical industry.
At the heart of this initiative lies a state-of-the-art facility with two modular production units, each capable of processing 5 metric tons of ISCC PLUS certified pre-sorted polyolefin waste per day, totaling up to 10 metric tons daily. Through advanced chemical recycling methods, the waste will be converted into ISCC PLUS certified pyrolysis oil, a sustainable feedstock for refineries. This pyrolysis oil will replace crude oil-derived feedstocks in the production of virgin-quality raw materials for plastics, including sustainable packaging solutions. By shifting from fossil fuel-based materials to recycled sustainable feedstocks, the facility aims to significantly reduce environmental impact and increase resource efficiency.

The plant will be ISCC PLUS certified, ensuring compliance with rigorous sustainability standards and enabling the official sale of certified sustainable raw materials. This certification reflects enespa's and Ecocyclic's commitment to delivering transparent, verifiable solutions that advance the circular economy.
Construction of the facility and its supporting infrastructure has begun in late 2024, with installation of advanced recycling technology starting mid-2025. Under the guidance of enespa’s expert engineering team, operations are expected to launch by second half of 2025. Designed with scalability in mind, the facility’s modular design will enable it to increase production capacity to 30 metric tons per day by the end of 2026, meeting growing market demand for sustainable plastic solutions.

Following the recently launched strategic partnership with Finnish startup PlastEco, this new initiative marks another crucial step in enespa’s growth, this time within the highly important U.S. market. “The project marks a significant milestone as enespa group’s first U.S.-based facility, reinforcing our global expansion strategy. With Ecocyclic, we have found the perfect partner for this important phase of our journey in the U.S.,” says enespa’s CTO, Ben Richters. By combining enespa’s innovative recycling technology with Ecocyclic’s strategic expertise, the partnership aims to establish the Winnie site as a leading example of sustainability and innovation in plastic waste management.
