It could also have been Cyrill Hugi AG. But I didn't want that. So in 2004, enespa started with a better-sounding name and a different business idea than it has today. This is the prehistory of enespa as it exists today.
The first business idea: to save energy - and therefore CO2 - when heating houses. In 2004 we, co-founders Beat N. and I, registered our company in the commercial register under the name «enespa». At the beginning, we didn't have much more than a plastic pipe, a pressure optimisation electronics system and the so-called Venturi effect: the physical law based on the change in pressure ratios in a pipe.
We went from household to household and promised that it would work. And it did.
This saved 20% and more in heating energy per house. The business name that went with it: «enespa», a contraction of «energy» and «save». Back then, we went from house to house with our idea and promised the homeowners that it would work. And it did.
That was enespa's first business idea, and several more were to follow. Because enespa is one thing in particular: a think tank for solutions in the field of preventing pollutants entering in the environment. It started with CO2 and has now moved on to plastic, a resource that we want to use in a circular economy in the future.
Of course, there were also some ideas that didn't work out. After all, anyone who ventures into uncharted territory must try many paths before they find the right one. We are working on sustainable recycling systems and researching innovative technologies with over 30 specialists in Germany and another 20 experts in Appenzell, Switzerland. The first major bumps in the road to a future without plastic waste have been safely negotiated: enespa has grown from a start-up to a young company.

The road to a circular economy for plastics is a long one. However, we are not travelling this path alone, but together with you. Celebrate with us when we come one step closer to our goal.
