The Custodians Plastic Race project was launched by enespa and our partner BioDesign Foundation.
This brings together as many parties in our society as possible to work together on one of the biggest environmental problems: plastic pollution. It's a race against time to clean up the planet.

Together against plastic pollution
Uncontrolled plastic pollution endangers the health of every human being as well as biodiversity. The Custodians Plastic Race, which is part of clean-up events, rids nature of waste in stages. At the same time, community-wide participation promotes responsible waste management. The motto is fitting: All Together Now. The idea behind it is that harmony between humans, technology, and nature can be restored if every member of society contributes to collective efforts according to their abilities.
Previous clean-up events
The first clean-up event took place in Venice in 2021. The race thus began and spread from Italy to other countries such as Germany, Spain, Macedonia, and Bulgaria. The Custodians Plastic Race is often embedded in sporting events. To name just a few:

Welcome on board
To ensure the clean-up events reach the broadest possible audience, intensive networking is necessary in advance. The higher the participation, the greater the impact. With environmental protection as a common goal, institutions, authorities, companies, and thus people of all ages are brought together. An unprecedented mobilization took place at several events along Italy's coasts. For large-scale clean-up actions on land and in the water, the following people came together:

App for coordination
The central coordination tool for all cleanups of the Custodians Plastic Race is the Custodians Earth Solution Platform, or CESP for short. This free app allows users to enter precise coordinates and a detailed description of locations where measures need to be taken to resolve an environmental problem. Geolocation contributes to the creation of a global database that maps pollution and facilitates the remediation of discovered areas. The data is used by civil protection agencies and the coast guard to coordinate cleanup efforts on land and at sea. CESP enables prioritization, organization, and reporting on the success of individual measures.
