enespa produces AdBlue®
100 tonnes of AdBlue® per day

The enespa Group joins the ranks of AdBlue® producers. At its newly opened site in Bernsdorf, Germany, it started mixing the product, which reduces nitrogen oxide emissions from diesel engines by up to 98%, in the first quarter of 2024. Following successful certification, sales started successfully in April. Some 100 tonnes of AdBlue® can be produced per day.
Production alone is not enough. Certification from the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) is a prerequisite for being allowed to sell AdBlue®. This was obtained in March 2024. One audit element concerns quality assurance. Each fresh AdBlue® mixture has a batch number that ensures traceability. A sample of each mixture is sent to a laboratory, where various parameters are analysed. The batch is only released if everything is correct. "Correctly produced AdBlue® can reduce the pollutant emissions of diesel engines by up to 98% and thus reduce environmental pollution," says Michael Richter.
enespa oil gmbh in Hoyerswerda, around 15 kilometres from the Bernsdorf site, is responsible for the new AdBlue® division. The pyrolysis plants, which are part of enespa's oil refining business segment, are also located there. At another site in Tangstedt near Hamburg, pyrolysis plants are being built for the aforementioned segment and for two other business areas: tyre pyrolysis and chemical plastics recycling. The diversification of the product range through AdBlue® production represents a further mainstay of the enespa Group.
